The up-tune Yes Sir, That's My Baby scored 59 for music, 63 for presentation, and 62 for singing. The total score of 371 placed second in the chorus competition and exceeded the 360 points required to qualify for the District contests in Fargo, ND October 22-24.
This is the highest score the chorus has earned in competition in 15 years, and earned additional honors as Most-Improved Chorus.
Four members of the Capitol Chordsmen Chorus make up Mad Harmony, which won the Novice Quartet Championship and placed third overall among Division quartets. Tenor Jay Mulder, Lead Josh Oxley, bass Kent McDonald, and baritone John Itson treated the judges and audience to I've Been Workin' On The Railroad (Music: 64, Presentation: 62, Singing: 64) and Taking A Chance On Love (Music: 52, Presentation: 61, Singing: 59). Their total score of 362 is short of the higher threshold of 390 needed for quartets to qualify for District.
